Russel Campbell

This is Russel Campbell for the OCT.

I suppose I should explain the situation with the "Alout War" first, and since I'm not sure where would be a good place for that info, it's going right here...

So, pretty much in Russel and Willi's world, the military has gone rogue and started attacking civilians. So, in retaliation the civilians put together their own corps aptly called the "First Civilian Corps." The "Alout War" is a play on the idea of "all-out war" and has since become the unofficial name for the struggle, which seems to be never ending. The two sides of the war are referred to in slang terms as the "Civvies" and "Hellbounds."

Personality: Having wanted to do it since he was young, Russel is a very good captain. Though there are times when he is emerged head-first in his thoughts and memories, Russel understands how to be strict enough with his crew to get the job done, and fair enough not to be too overbearing. Russel isn't afraid to get dirty and sweaty along with his crew. But, the pain of the events leading up to the Alout War often get to him, and if he isn't careful, Russel can quickly lose his nerve. To the dismay of his sister, he often calms his nerves with cigarettes, which he's been smoking since he was fourteen.

History: Before Russel volunteered the Bombastic to be an ammo carrier for the Civilian Corps in the Alout War, she was a merchant ship. Content to ferry large "merchandise" such as airplane parts back and forth across the sea, Russel never fretted about missing out on any "action." Anyway, civilian life left him enough time to stay at home between jobs to visit with his family and romp with his dog, Bandit. Of course, this was all before the Hellbounds made a direct attack on his city, burning down his house and murdering Bandit.

Clothing: The only article of clothing that Russel wears that denoted that his is anything special aboard the ship is his captain's cap. The brass plate on the brim of his cap is stamped with the words "I Civilian Corps" announcing his business on the sea. Russel is never without his hat, nor his brown leather jacket and hiking boots.
